About Luisa

Hi! I love helping people communicate and I hope I can help you too!

- Services (online/adults):

. ESOL/EFL

. Brazilian Portuguese

. Life Coaching - English or Portuguese

- Methodology/Philosophy:

I avoid labeling my tutoring style, as I like to use elements of all approaches in my classes. Tutors and students have diverse personalities, therefore I try to connect with the person and evaluate their needs, strengths, and pace - one of the main advantages of private tutoring.

With that said, CLT is a great approach I like to use, but grammar is also an integral part of my programs. It is a foundation that can give confidence to learners using a new language - at any level. Conversational activities are just as important - this balance facilitates the learning process and mastery of all four major skills.

- Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Social Communications - Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ)

- Certifications, Courses, and Memberships

. 120-hour Master TEFL/TESOL Certificate - BridgeTEFL (fully accredited by ACCET - a U.S. Department of Education Recognized Agency). Includes the 80-hour TEFL/TESOL and the 40-hour English Grammar Certificates.

. ECPE - Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English by the University of Michigan - Level C2 - Highest on the CEFR scale.

. Phonology and Linguistics classes/seminars - TTC - Teacher Training Course at IBEU (Brazil-U.S. Institute).

. Member - American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

. Certified Life Coach - Coach Training Alliance - approved by ICF.

. Professional Photography Certificate - NYIP.

. Meditation Certificate - UCF.

Book a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your language needs!

I am incredibly grateful for the gift of biculturalism and helping people communicate. Working with two different cultures and languages showed me how beautiful diversity is, while also proving that we all have much more in common than we believe.
