About Yufen

I’m a piano and violin instructor with close to 20 years of teaching experience and graduate degrees in music. I teach students from beginners to college level, from age 5 to senior citizens. Some of my students are professional musicians and some are playing music as a hobby. I trailer make lesson plans to meet each individual student’s needs.

I started teaching when I was 18 with the recommendations from my instructors in high school.

Piano:

Doctor of Musical Arts in Accompanying — Catholic University of America

Master of Music in Piano Performance — Stephen F. Austin State University

Violin:

14 years of classical violin training

I set up a 30-minute free trial session with potential new student to get to know each other and to find out what the student’s technique and music theory level is and what type of music the student like or dislike.

After that, I will discuss and coordinate with the students and parents to set up a lesson plan.

Piano: beginner to advanced level

Violin: beginner to late- intermediate level

Please check the teacher’s credentials and take sometime to get to know the teacher’s teaching philosophy. Of course high price doesn’t necessarily mean highest quality but music lesson is just like anything else in life, you usually get what you pay for.

My studio’s end-of-semester recital.

All my students who were able to participate performed beautifully and we had a wonderful little reception afterwards.

Spring and winter recitals is a tradition everyone in my studio looking forward to every semester.
