About Hannah

Hello there, I’m new to the area! With an extensive background in piano instruction for a collective of 45+ past students all with a wide variety of ages and skill-levels, I am confident that I can transform your interest in piano into a passion.

It is important to me that my students are engaged in the curriculum I provide for them, that’s why they help me choose it! With a heavy focus on musical theory so that music actually makes sense, I then tailor my musical instruction to the specific needs and interests of my students- I want you to be excited to practice everyday! Incentives for students are included, as well as quarterly performances for family and friends to attend (however, performance plans currently discontinued due to COVID-19). My job isn’t just to teach you piano, my job is to help you create a relationship with the instrument.

I started playing piano at age 7 and I loved the instrument but DREADED practicing because I either wasn’t excited by any of my assigned pieces or they were too difficult/easy. At age 16 I decided to start teaching beginner piano to young children in an attempt to give these kids an experience with piano that was completely different from my own- I wanted them to love to play! I started with two students and my network quickly grew and I absolutely loved the work.

As previously mentioned, I’ve been an independent piano instructor for a collective 11 years.

Our initial 30 minute lesson will just be us getting to know each other! I’ll also take this opportunity to gauge your current skill level with a few exercises as we introduce you to the piano. Lessons with be weekly- our 30 minutes will be compartmentalized into warm-ups/scales, music theory exercises, and performance practice (where we work on assigned songs and/or introduce new pieces for the following week).

I’ve taught ages 6-17 ranging in beginner and intermediate skill levels.
