About Jordan

Mission: Music has been one of the great gifts of my life. It has continuously been a source of joy, connection, and healing. My goal is to nurture a student's relationship to music by nurturing their innate creativity. There are endless ways to build a relationship with music: Want to learn how to compose? Play by ear? Want to learn your favorite song? Or how to read music? Maybe you're heady and want to learn music theory! I tailor your lessons specific to your interests with your direct input. Learning music can be work, but it should first and foresmost be enjoyable!

My instruments: intermediate-advanced piano (including classical), beginner-intermediate guitar, beginner-intermediate singing.

I began classicaly training on piano at age 5, singing in choirs at grade 5, and teaching myself guitar at age 20. I have been performing in bands and as a solo act as a singer, guitar player and pianist since 2015.

I enjoy seeing the progress of students, I especially enjoy when I see evidence of progress in a student's enhanced ability to express themselves musically. I also enjoy the connections I form with my students and get immense satisfaction in the opportunity to offer my experience, knowledge and passion for music.

About the lesson

1. What are your goals? playing covers, reading music, writing music, music theory playing by ear, playing with others, etc.

2. I determine the student's level by asking about experience and an a brief assessment relevant to the type of skills the student would like to learn (for example: there are different assessments for classical vs playing by ear)

3. Let's set some achievable, timely goals

4. Tailor lesson plans to those goals
