About Nanette
I have Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in music from Towson State University (MD) and Southern Methodist University (TX). I am successful with all ages, a patient and encouraging teacher. Because I am semi-retired, I have a flexible schedule.
I love meeting my students where they are and encouraging them as they systematically and creatively work towards their performance and musicianship goals.

Assessing where they are in their music education journey and their goals helps me to choose a path forward. Usually, with piano beginners I use the Faber Piano adventures series, which is a methodical progression teaching sight reading, musical expressiveness and performance, as well as technique, and theory. I like to make it a satisfying and fun lesson in which they experience all styles of music. For a vocalist, I focus on healthy singing techniques through vocal warmups and studies, and songs (all styles, as desired). With music theory, I can take a person through all aspects of music, writing, reading, counting, improvisation etc.

Nan is very patient and easy to work with. She has a fortune of music experience and understanding! She also has a soft, kind soul that makes learning fun and easy.
I have experienced Nan DeAndrade in a different setting. She, through church, has taught my grandchildren so much through her love of music and children! They have benefitted from her amazing skills as a teacher and a mentor. We are so grateful for the time that we have been blessed by her talents, her mind and her heart! She rocks!
Funny yet instructive. Good with children. Nan is very supportive and encouraging.
I enjoy her demeanor the most. All is well! She has retrieved my voice that was lost somewhere down in my body!! I love her!
Nan is so talented and a superb teacher for all ages. Very patient. Highly recommend her.
I took piano lessons as a child from Nan. She also taught me some guitar chords. She was always patient and took the time to explain difficult concepts for me.
