About Abigail
I believe every student has the right not only to make music, but understand HOW it works, so they can experience music to the fullest! This is why I make music theory classes part of the curriculum for students over the age of 7, and add in historical stories about music, to help understand how it has shaped the music of today.
Introducing young minds to a brand new world. Music is a whole culture, language, art, and existance in itself. Bringing students into that world opens up so many new possibilities to them, and allows them to explore new ideas, thoughts, and sounds!
I began teaching basic violin to 3 year olds during my junior year of college. 4 months after I received my BA degree I started the Southern Strings Music School at King of Kings Church. I taught at the church and in students' homes for 2 years before moving all lessons to my current home studio.
I recieved my BA in Liberal Studies with my emphasis on Music Education in 2013. I have played piano for 20 years and cello for 13 years. I have played in 2 community orchestras, a cello choir, and currently own and run a wedding music string ensemble in which I am the main cellist. I have been teaching cello and piano since 2013.

In the first lesson, which is a free trial lesson, I assess the student's learning style and natural strengths. We work through a regular lesson book(s) to quickly get the student on the road to learning to read music and playing by ear.
Beginning piano and cello students, ages 3-16.
Find a teacher who is passionate and excited about what they teach, and who is dedicated to giving you a complete, well rounded education.
