About Leah
At the Merry Melody Music Academy it is our goal to make learning music fun! Our well-planned activities encourage students to develop relationships with their peers; to discover commonalities, strengths, and weaknesses; to support each other while discovering their talents; and to build confidence in their new-found musical abilities. The Academy offers both private and group lessons in voice, piano and flute as well as private tutoring in written and conversational German.
I began teaching as a teenager because I just couldn't imagine a more interesting first job!
Mrs. Knight has been teaching private voice and piano lessons for 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with Piano Proficiency. She has received numerous awards from the MN Metropolitan Opera, the Music Teacher’s National Association and the National Association of Teacher Singers. While participating in collegiate vocal competitions across the country, she performed in prominent cities such as Minneapolis, Denver and New York as well as debuting a lead roll with the Fargo-Moorhead Opera. Mrs. Knight has also had the privilege of attending the Frost School of Music in Salzburg, Austria on scholarship from the MN Metropolitan Opera. She has 20 years of formal piano training and actively volunteers as a church pianist. Mrs. Knight has recently begun to work as an accompanist and vocal coach at the Lake Park Audubon High
Leah Grace Knight is a lyric coloratura soprano celebrated for her uniquely beautiful tone and her rich, full voice. She is known for her elegant musical interpretation and charming stage presence. Leah has an incredibly versatile mechanism which allows her to master many genres of music with ease, but none as effortlessly as her first love - oratorio.
EXPERIENCE
Leah has performed in a variety of operas, operettas, oratorios and musical theater productions. These performances include her debut with the Fargo Moorhead Opera as Barbarina from Le Nozze di Figaro, Olympia from Les Contes D’Hoffman, Merry Widow from The Merry Widow, Lisa from Pique Dame and countless others. Leah has enjoyed singing in the chorus for Dialogue of the Carmelites and La Traviata as well as performing the soprano solos for Carmina Burana and the Messiah.

Typically a new student will come to Academy for a free trial lesson. After meeting the student and working with him/her, we collectively decide how to proceed and make lesson/ class arrangements accordingly.
I have experience working with students of all ages. From 4-64! Men and women, boys and girls and small groups.
Always ask for a trial lesson before choosing a teacher or studio. This will give you an opportunity to observe the teacher and his/her method before committing.
Each holiday season I and my students are asked to perform a concert for various care centers in our tri-state area. I particularly enjoy bringing Christmas cheer into the lives of the family and friends in these centers. There is just nothing like helping someone remember and relive a sweet moment from their past.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should always consider how often they would like to have lessons for their chosen instrument, whether they would like to study privately or in a group lesson and how consistent can they be in attending their lessons.
