About Claire
I am a young, motivated and dedicated teacher. I studied piano performance, music theory and composition at Occidental College, and currently teach three beginner students, with ages ranging from 6 to 40. My goal with beginners is to make sure they are learning basic theory, while also having lots of fun. I give them the flexibilty to choose whatever pieces they would like to learn, and keep the lessons lighthearted, making sure I build a positive and comfortable relationship with my student.
I love seeing a student's joy and satisfaction when something finally clicks and they are able to play a tricky part or understand a concept.

We are so grateful to have found Claire. She started by teaching my 6 year old daughter. She opened up the world of music to my daughter like a puzzle waiting to be cracked. Their lessons are full of laughter and discovery. I can feel my daughter's confidence swell as she learns this new language.
They were having so much fun that I'm now taking first time piano as an adult. Claire easily shifted to teaching a grownup. She explains with total clarity, lifting the music off the page and making it seem possible!
I can't recommend her more!Ms. Tolman teaches my nine year old daughter piano. She has been teaching her for over 6 months now and she has made the sessions both productive and entertaining. I am very satisfied with her effort and dedication.
