As a classically trained singer used to singing with an operatic voice, I studied with Eric over summer to learn musical theatre vocal technique. Eric taught me how to sing with my chest voice through fun vocal exercises and by working on a beautiful song he wrote. Each week, I could sing higher and higher without switching to my head voice. I started off with less than an octave range and expanded my chest voice range to two octaves in just six weeks.

Eric explained things very clearly and was incredibly supportive to me. He has also helped me so much with finding the low notes that I was sure I didn’t have. Eric and I worked on his original song called “Look At Me”. It was a great pick because it showed me how the same words and melodies can convey such different emotions. As a composer planning to write a musical for my master’s project, this song was crucial in helping me understand how to write for musical theatre.

Through this song, I learned to add stylistic embellishments, such as vocal slides, which have become my favorite technique. I will now incorporate these slides in my music. "Look At Me" is such a wonderful song and very exciting to sing! And through Eric's workshopping, I found my voice and learned how to truly connect with the meaning of the song. He helped me with honing my musical expression and bringing out my acting and storytelling into my performance.

I highly recommend Eric as a vocal coach to anyone who wants to improve their vocal technique, learn how to sing, and prepare for performances.

I was learning diatonic harmony (part writing and piano playing) in college and was struggling to grasp the complicated material but Eric made it super simple and explained it in a way that had not even been explained to me by my professors. He is not only a fantastic musician but he is a fantastic teacher. He really helped me and I finished the semester with an A because of him!

My son Jamie has been taking piano classes with Eric for over 3 years. His music abilities have developed from not being able to play piano or read music notes to performing beautiful pieces by Mozart and Bach. Jamie loves and cherishes his piano classes. Firstly, a flexible and earnest teacher.

Not only an expert in music instruction, but also a great teacher in general. He's taught me a lot of musical concepts that renowned university teachers were struggling to connect me with. Tl;dr, the teacher I SHOULD'VE had in my school.

Honestly would have failed without his help during homework and midterm/finals practices.

Not to mention Eric's also passionate, chill, and overall nice.

Some big things he helped me with include:
- Various homework assignments. Including harmonizing Bach chorales. Made all of them so much less daunting to complete.
- Helped me in a final project where I broke down a really avant' garde contemporary pop song. Said deep dive into the song enabled me to pick out the instrumentation, harmony, musical techniques, and an overall far better understanding of the song to complete my report.

The problem I've had with learning music is that there's so many different genres and approaches into the learning field that operate differently. It can be pretty hard for that alone since I've been having a lot of teachers who don't quite fit with what music I'm learning.
But the flexibility I mentioned at the start with Eric really shines through as he's been able to help me and my peculiar perspective. My big recommendation that he can totally help you out.
