About Christine
Hello, I’m Christine Smith and I’m very excited to invite you to my personalized online classes for all ages called Music with Miss Christine. I’ve been teaching piano, drums and vocals for 24+ years now, and even though I’ve been performing in public since age 6, teaching is truly my passion. My current students range in age from 6 to 60 and I’m especially great with Early Learners. My teaching style is energetic, fun, patient, nurturing and encouraging, and I love helping people of all ages achieve their musical goals. Lessons are weekly, 1 hour, and online only.
I’ve devoted my entire life to music and I believe my lessons are unique because of my wide range of experience. Originally from NYC, I’m a singer/songwriter and classically trained pianist (Juilliard) who has spent over 20 years touring internationally and recording with many famous Rock n Roll bands and artists. These opportunities led me to be a record producer and studio engineer as well. Although piano is my main instrument, I also play drums, guitar and accordion. In London I spent over a decade playing Jazz piano and working as a Musical Director in comedy theater and radio. I’ve also played Carnegie Hall twice and I’ve been on the Conan O’Brien show three times. It’s been quite a journey!
Here’s how my method works:
The lessons are structured with warm up exercises and we work together on building a repertoire of songs you love. No matter what style of music, I believe the main ingredients of a song are melody, chords and rhythm, and I teach all this music theory and harmony through ear training, sheet music (John Thompson) and/or my handwritten charts (Nashville Number System) that I provide for free. Depending on your goals and learning style, I always offer personalized choices to give my students confidence and fast results, and to help them truly understand what they’re playing! I’ve also created fun and effective games and exercises for melody, chords, patterns and rhythm using letters and numbers and hand signals.

Perfect! I would highly recommend Miss Christine to anyone.She is an amazingly talented musician and teacher.She is very passionate about music and teaches a lot of theory behind music which is awesome and makes it interesting.She makes learning a lot of fun.I don't know how other piano teachers are out there but I definitely think she's one of the best.
Perfect! Miss Christine is a wonderfully knowledgeable, fun, and patient teacher for my 10 year old who is learning the drums. She tailors each lesson for him and whatever he is wanting to focus on/work towards. She sends over helpful documents for him that she made, and she even looked up some songs in her free time to get familiar with the songs he likes even managing to find the sheet music for them as well. She remembers what they have worked on and new things they are learning and most importantly, makes it enjoyable!
Miss Christine really goes above and beyond, which is hard to do via Zoom, and she a very talented teacher that my whole family highly recommends!Perfect! Very easy to work with! Allows you to give input and she also meets you on whatever level you’re on musically, so if you’re not on level one, she won’t put you through the basics all over again. She extremely good at what she does.

Christine is wonderful and patient with both my kids. And she has guided them seamlessly through guitar, piano and drums. She teaches the theory behind the music in understandable ways, so that they are truly learning vs just repeating. Real!I began working with Christine a few years ago when I was given an accordion. My accordion is a diatonic button accordion. Christine effortlessly learned the keyboard on my accordion, took out time to write out all the keys and hand placement for me and explained music theory in a way a beginner like myself could understand.
She is professional, flexible, patient, and most importantly makes every lesson fun.

She was able to keep them completely engaged and keep them progressing when other teachers could not. Both my children have gone on to have a lifelong love of music, and continued musical proficiency, and we owe it all to Miss Christine.
