About Yanran
Having been teaching piano for more than 8 years, I also teach improvising, sight-reading, ear-training and music theory (harmony, counterpoint, etc.)
I have helped students prepare for ABRSM’s exams and public performances as well when I worked in piano-teaching studios.
I have had experience with a variety of students, including very young children (from three years old), teenagers with learning disabilities, adult students, advanced students seeking professional training, non-piano music majors, etc.
Growing up in a family where both my grandparents and my father teaching music, it helps me develop a natural capability for teaching. My piano lessons are always filled with laughters while students making productive progress.
I found my teaching experience rewarding, not only because of the confidence and achievements my students acquired, but also because I formed meaningful and lasting friendships with them and ,sometimes, their parents.
I have felt the learning process is never only about music, but about developing the student as a whole person. I keenly believe that the study of music, when taught with enthusiasm, develops the hands, the mind and the heart of not just the student, but also of the teacher.
I cherish every student who I have encountered, for everyone of them is special and inspiring to me in their own way. I Learn enormously from teaching them all the time.

Good and sophisticated teacher.
You can tell that she is so passionate about music and teaching! Not only that, a deep thinker. We sometimes talk about our philosophy of life too. She is my close friend now.
She teaches in mandarin, too. Detailed, clear, and straightforward. Recommend her very much.
I studied with her for more then 4 years. Now I am a student who is seeking for professional piano-playing career in the conservatory. She helped me with efficient practicing A LOT.
Loved studying with her. Funny, knowledgeable and serious young woman. I miss her!!!!
Excellent piano teacher! You must hear her playing piano, it’s just so beautiful and inspiring...
She is one of the most patient teachers I have ever studied with. Clear and thoughtful on what she was teaching. More importantly, she cares.
