Music is a joy!

While there is a bit of work involved in improving any skill, lessons and performances don't need to be a bore. I strive to make lessons engaging and fun, and all activities are meaningful in working towards musical goals.
Some talent is innate; most talent is developed. Anyone can advance with the right application. Be patient with yourself and be amazed!

I fell in love with music from an early age and my parents finally got me lessons at age 12! When I went to college, I started my degree in microbiology, but then I daydreamed of music all day and realized how unhappy I was working in a lab all day. I decided I wanted to be a professional piano teacher, so I made it happen! I love all of my students and I feel so fortunate to be able to work in music, both in teaching and as an assistant for the Idaho State-Civic Symphony, ISU Preparatory Piano Program, ISU Summer Institute for Piano and Strings, and other music programs.
I have my Bachelor's in Piano Performance from Idaho State University. I've taken two college courses in how to teach piano (pedagogy) and I've taught students since 2010!

I like to meet new students, discussing goals and deciding the right course for their needs. Each student has individual needs and goals and I accomodate as best I can!
I've taught ages 5-75, students with ADHD and autism, and lots of easy and difficult personalities! Anyone who is willing to learn makes a great student.
I would recommend they find a teacher who fits their goals, as well as one with as much training as you like. I'm a huge proponent of education, and I feel like I have a lot to offer with my degree in Piano Performance as well as my teaching experience in ISU's Preparatory Piano Program since 2011.
This past weekend I helped run the Idaho State-Civic Symphony's Young Artist Competition. I love hearing all of the talent in Idaho compete on the stage of Jensen Hall in the Stephens Performing Arts Center! It's beautiful to see the accomplishments of others and to celebrate their musical success.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students need to consider their goals and communicate them directly. A teacher can help only so much as they know the direction to take. Students need not feel ashamed of their needs and should feel comfortable asking for help. I strive to be understanding and compassionate, while maintaining good musical standards.
