About Connie
I have been a member of Connecticut State Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. With these credentials my students are eligible for all student recitals, theory programs, master classes, and competitions and programs put on by these organizations. I have been teaching for many years. I teach mostly a clasically oriented program, but that includes lots of games, the use of some techniology, recitals, and I teach primarily adults.
Working with children, sharing my passion for music with all ages, finding the best ways to communicate with each individual personality. I also enjoy working with children with special needs. I holp my students achieve their goals by finding out how they learn and the kind of pursuits they love. I include msbury,ct.pianostudio.by ear with simple harmonizations, simple composition and improvisation. These give my students confidence, pride, and enthusiasm. I started teaching while still in high school because I knew that this would be my chosen profession with the concurrent schooling.
I have a B.S. in Music Education. have a B.S. from the Crane School Music at SUNY Potsdam, NY. My masters in performance and accompanying is from Boston University. I am a member of SAI, the professional women's music fraternity, MTNA and CSMTA, the latter offering recitals, master classes, theory tests, and ongoing edcationn. I accompanied as staff accompanist at Crane School of Music, Boston University, the Hartt School of Music, and professionally in the Boston, Cape Cod, and Hartford areas. I have also been a music educator in a school.

I begin with talking with a prospective new student in order to get to know him/her. I ask them about their favorite activities or studies, what they like about music, and tell them what is required in terms of practise. I also do a bit of ear training and imitation of simple phrases I might play for them. Overall my aim is to form a rapport with a stdent. Thhough I am now legally blind, I have a solid working knowledge of teaching methods, repertoire, and can still demonstrate. As well I have played most of the pieces that I assign, research them as well, and know most beginner methods inside and out. I have a thorough knowledge of the Royal Conservatory of Music syllabus, the CSMTA, and New York syllabi.
I've worked with students from the ages if 5 to 65. Adult students come because thay have a desire to study music if they did not have a chance as a child. Students have run the gamut from basic beginners whose parents want them to have experience with music to extremely talented students who go on to make music their career.
Look for a teacher with whom you feel a sense of rapport and/or enjoy their style of teaching and their personalities. Look for someone who is skilled in the area of music that you are interested.
I love to read and play the piano for enjoyment. Accompanying is my first love musically but I also very much enjoy teaching especially and have found that now, the age that I am very much enjoying teaching is adults.

Connie is a knowledgeable, patient and encouraging piano teacher, There is nothing she doesn't know about her subject. As an adolescent, I had taken lessons before, but wasn't taught anything about theory. I'm really enjoying learning information in this area of music. Now I'm a senior, so there are limitations in what I can accomplish in piano playing, but a student of any age will do well with Connie as his/her teacher.
