About Pamela
I have many approaches I can use with students, so I can meet them where they are at and help them to where they want to go musically. I will work with someone no matter what level they are or how much time they have to devote to music. The point is to to make the most of your time, to enjoy the journey of exploring music and the thrill of musical expression. I don't put up barriers, I remove them. Whether you read music or not, you can play the piano.
I have a B.A. in music theory and have taught for over 20 years, using many styles of music and methods. I play a range of styles from classical to New Age, and in addition to reading music I compose, arrange and improvise.
I really enjoy teaching, connecting with students, helping them be their best, and having fun along the way. Helping people find their "voice", a way to express themselves through music, is very satisfying.
BA in Music Theory
MS in Creative Studies
Certificate in Suzuki Piano Method

They share their goals and I offer options for how to meet the goals - considering what they may already know, the way they learn, the type of music they like, how much time they have. I may start by loaning a book until we see exactly what will work best for them. I encourage enjoying the learning process, because that helps people stick with it as they encounter challenges.
