About Jacquelyn
I LOVE seeing my students get excited when they catch on to what we're learning and having fun simultaneously! I have several ways to get students on board with what they need to know; hands-on activities with a POSITIVE reward system have been the most beneficial I have seen.
I currently work with a local nonprofit organization that focuses on literacy and reading. They have trained me and given me the tools to become a trauma-informed reading mentor, learning how to work with children in a social-emotional setting, and I am now a site director for a literacy camp. I am also halfway through my two bachelor's degrees in child psychology and human development and family studies with a concentration in youth development.

Getting to know a new student is vital. Teaching someone should also be a personable experience in which you get to know their interests and who they are as a person. It's impossible to jump in with a lesson if you do not understand how that person learns best.
I have worked with students of all backgrounds. Grades K-8, trauma backgrounds, living in poverty, and so on. Covid-19 did a number on our younger kids, so those entering schools are either far behind or are barely getting what they should be learning.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
One of the biggest questions I would suggest you ask yourself is: How do I best learn? Hands-on, visual, auditory, etc.
