About KELLY
I am very passionate about reading, especially teaching students who struggle how to read the things they love. I have been the Reading Specialist in a local middle school for 9 years and I love my job. I have my bachelor's in English and Elementary and Secondary Education, a Masters in Reading, and my certification in Special Education and as a Reading Specialist. I have also been awarded Teacher of the Year. I look forward to getting to know you and your child and tailoring my lessons to their unique and specific needs.
I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was in kindergarten. My love for teaching reading began when I was student teaching and I had a student who struggled to read. I realized that I was grossly underprepared to teach such an important subject. It was then that I decided to obtain my Masters in Reading, my Reading Specialist certification and my Special Education certification.

Each student is unique and my instruction will reflect that. My typical plan is to assess the students needs using some form of informal testing measure. After analyzing the results, discussing the goals of the parents and student, I will tailoring my instruction accordingly. If appropriate for the student, I do use a multi-sensory approach with students.
