About Al
My name is Al Jenis, and I would like to tell you about the services I am able provide you and your valued clients who are interested in obtaining their pistol permit. I am an NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun Instructor as well as a Home Firearm Safety Instructor and Personal Protection Inside / Outside the Home Instructor. I have worked at two retail stores over the past three years selling firearms and have heard from numerous customers that the required NYS pistol instruction classes they have taken are generally less than adequate. This has prompted me to create my own course to better meet the needs of prospective handgun owners.
I have put together a power point presentation based on the NRA Basic Pistol course and have shown it to the Erie County Pistol Department. After reviewing it, they believe it is excellent. My course covers the following topics: Filling out NYS pistol permit application, Safe Gun handling, Revolver – Single and Double action, Semi-automatics, Fundamentals of pistol shooting, Ammunition, Proper cleaning, Storage and Transportation, and Responsible gun ownership.
I prefer to instruct small classes consisting of no more than five students. I believe that if the group is larger than this, I cannot adequately answer questions on a one-to-one basis. Additionally, I am willing to travel to the student’s location, if desired

Enroll in a class, agree on the time and place for the class, I provide all the forms for submitting the application to the county clerk office, during the class I passout literature that I believe is very important for the students to read twice. I also offer range time to determine what type of hand gun best fits their needs, plus we treach firearm safety in the house plus various article (laws) that effect gun owners
The age groups goes from 21 to 75 years young, both females and males
