About Esther
I teach introductory to advanced lessons, and have had private students accepted to the Interlochen Summer Academy, university music programs, and California All-State Honor Bands. In lessons, you will learn to play in the simplest way possible while developing great musical maturity. We'll focus on learning how to pracitce, so that you may create your achievements in lessons while practicing on your own.

I love hearing students make music! Playing notes and rhythms is not making music--my favorite part of teaching is hearing students transition to playing just notes and rhythm, to making what they play sound like language.
I have worked with many private teachers with a variety of approaches to improving on the instrument, which I have soaked in as a student! I have never been a natural player, and have tons of experience working through many issues on the instrument, making me a much stronger teacher! My 5+ years of experience teaching have cemented my ability to clearly communicate all essential instrumental and musical concepts.

In our first lesson, I will get a feel for what your goals and musical interests are, and also what your current level of playing is. We will discuss fundamentals of playing--concepts such as "Song and Wind," and a few mechanics of playing the instrument.
