About Sean
I am a Juilliard-trianed trombonist with 10-years experience teaching students age 10-18. I have performed in many countries, including Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Japan, China, and the Netherlands.
I was the Graduate Teaching Assistant for Joseph Alessi at the Juilliard School from 2012-2014. In 2006, I was the first brass musician to win the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, which is a scholarship given out by the television show "From the Top," which I appeared on three times.
I enjoy teaching students that want to take their playing to the next level. If you are in middle school or high school preparing for state competitions or solo/ensemble contest or a hobbyist looking for an outlet of creativity, reach out and schedule a lesson with me.
When I was in college, I taught pre-college students at MSM & Juilliard, as well as outreach lessons in NYC communities. Once I graduated, I moved to Houston, TX where I taught approximately 50 students each week.
My first teacher originally influenced me to begin teaching. He has taught students that have studied at the Eastman School, the Royal Academy of Music, Oberlin, Indiana University, Northwestern University, DePaul University, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Juilliard School.

I think the best way to work with a younger student is to match the training materials and methods used in their band program. This includes counting, rhythm, and reading music.
For intermediate and advanced players, we break away to more advanced methods of sound, musicianship, and technique.
