I am an enthusiastic and dedicated violin teacher, taking great pride in the progression of my students.
My teaching methods are a blend of repertoire, fundamental technical work and exercises. I also apply methods from the Alexander Technique, yoga and movement to enhance performance and practice.
I adapt my teaching methods to the student. For some, it is helpful to focus solely on fundamental technique for a while - working through scales and exercises to improve certain elements. Other students may wish to progress quickly through grades, where a focus on specific repertoire accompanied by exercises for correcting technical elements is required. I work with my students to create a teaching plan that will work best for them.
I believe it is important that lessons and personal practice are taken very seriously in order for progress to be made, but it is also vital that my students feel inspired, have fun and enjoy making music - that is what it's all about!
I am a Masters student at the Royal Academy of Music, and a freelance professional violinist and teacher based in West Hampstead.
As a child I progressed through the ABRSM grades by age 12, and was a member of the National Children's Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. I now play professionally in London and across the UK whilst also studying at the Royal Academy of Music as a postgraduate student, where I perform regularly with my quartet, and take part in masterclasses, competitions and workshops.
I am very familiar with coaching both children and adults through ABRSM grades, helping them to achieve particular goals, or to focus on general improvement. I have been teaching for 5 years and very much enjoy helping my students to succeed and learn to feel excited by practice and confident in performance.
