About Christopher

Hello! My name is Chris Taylor and I am a retired Chartered Engineer living right here in Andover, Hampshire, I am dedicating my retirement to helping the next generation master GCSE Mathematics and Physics.

My career has taken me from the energy sector with BP to space technology projects with NASA
I hold a degree in engineering, and an MBA. I specialised deeply in physics, mathematics, and electronics/radio technology. I have also studied OU Astrophysics and Cosmology.
I have spent over 50 years working at the highest levels of global technology and science, including career highlights at NASA and BP. My core expertise lies in physics, advanced mathematics, electrical and electronics engineering, and radio technology.
While I do not hold a formal school-teaching certificate, my entire 50-year career has been spent breaking down complex, highly technical scientific concepts into practical, understandable solutions.

About the lesson

My Tutoring Philosophy:
I supplement school learning and offer dedicated, in-person, one-to-one tutoring for GCSE Mathematics and GCSE Physics. I bring a unique, practical perspective to the syllabus, transforming complex equations into clear, fascinating concepts.
I concentrate on exam technique and solutions to exam questions.
Because I have spent a lifetime applying maths and physics to cutting-edge technology, I don’t just teach students how to pass exams I show them why these subjects’ matter —I teach them how things actually work by connecting textbook problems to real-world engineering and technology.
Whether your child is struggling to grasp core concepts or aiming for a Grade 9, I adapt my pace to their unique learning style, building their confidence and problem-solving intuition."

At age 15, my dad (Christopher Taylor) helped me to apply for a BTEC course in Building Engineering. The entry requirements of the BTEC included Maths at 'O' level grade (grade 6 and above in GCSE).

After a meeting with my head of year my parents were informed that I needed tuition if I was to achieve anywhere near 'O' level grade.

It was a difficult process for me and I had limited time until my final exams, but due to my dad's in-depth knowledge of Maths, his diligence and patience, he was able to work through past exam papers with me then check and correct my work for me to relearn from.

I passed my Maths 'O' level which turned out to be such an important stepping stone for my career journey and I would say that my dad's efforts and success teaching me Maths proved to be a true testament to his ability.
