Hello! I'm Rayyan
I specialize in helping ambitious students develop strong mathematical understanding, aim for A/A* grades, and tackle challenging problems beyond the standard syllabus.
My Mathematics Background
• 3rd place — University of Malaya Mathematics Competition (2024)
• 3 A*s in A-Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, which I self-studied and completed in 9 months
• A* grades across my IGCSEs
• Recently coached an Olympiad Mathematics prep workshop for IMONST Malaysia for students preparing for the Malaysian IMO
• 5 Years of Teaching Experience

How I Teach
My focus is on understanding concepts. I want students to understand WHY a method works.
Too often, students are taught to apply formulas without really understanding where they come from or when they should be used. I’m here to fix that.
I provide structured teaching, difficult exam questions and targeted exam preparation. For stronger students, I focus more on unfamiliar problems, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving techniques.

I am particularly suited to students who:

• Want to move beyond routine textbook questions
• Want to develop a competitive mindset for contests and Olympiads
• Want to strengthen their problem-solving ability and appreciate the beauty of mathematics
My ultimate goal is to help students become confident, independent problem-solvers. I want them to reach the point where, when faced with an unfamiliar or difficult problem, they do not immediately feel lost. They know how to think, try different approaches, and work towards a solution on their own. I believe that this confidence comes from genuinely understanding mathematics and having the experience of working through challenging problems for themselves.

Every lesson is tailored to the student's level, goals, and current difficulties.
We may begin by reviewing a concept or identifying gaps in understanding, before moving on to carefully selected questions that test whether the student can actually APPLY the ideas.
For students preparing for exams, lessons can include challenging past-paper questions, exam technique, and targeted practice based on the areas they need to improve.
For advanced students, I go beyond the syllabus with unfamiliar problems, mathematical reasoning, and deeper problem-solving.
I do not believe in simply giving students solutions. I encourage them to think through problems themselves, try different approaches, and explain their reasoning. Mistakes are useful because they show us exactly what needs to be improved.
The aim of each lesson is not just to finish a set of questions, but to leave the student understanding something more deeply and feeling more capable of tackling the next difficult problem independently.
