Methodology

From my personal experience of switching education modes as a student moving to the UK during sixth form, I believe that the key to learning is always conceptual understanding. While being highly trained in examination skills from my education in Hong Kong, I have realised true appreciation and application of subject knowledge must originate from the learner's curiosity in the mysteries of the universe, which cannot be spoon-fed, but can be nurtured. As a keen reader and writer, I have noticed in my experience of tutoring that my repertoire of comprehensive metaphors and comparisons, as well as my knowledge of "fun facts" in various academic fields provide an easy starting point for students who generally have some interest in understanding the world. I usually focus my lessons on reinforcing the students' fundamental understanding of each topic, how this ventures into the real world, as well as tips on examinations. We could sometimes get into very deep talks about such topics!
