About Priya
I decided to become a tutor after high school to help students who struggle with understanding and keeping up with content during class. I understand the feeling of information going in one ear and out the other, while also being distracted by friends around me. I know what it’s like to start assignments last minute, feel afraid to raise my hand in class out of fear of judgment, or avoid asking questions altogether because a teacher made me doubt myself and my ability to succeed in something I was already finding difficult.
I truly believe grades are not a reflection of a student’s intellect, but rather a letter that often represents the amount of time and effort put into a task. If you’re a student—or a parent of a child—who struggles with maths due to barriers both inside and outside the classroom, I believe I can be a strong support. I aim to boost confidence, explore alternative learning strategies, and build success based on each student’s strengths.

Online Sessions
Note: While face-to-face learning is highly valued for its ease of communication, online classes offer greater flexibility—especially in the following situations:
Busy parent work schedules: Online lessons allow your child to attend sessions from anywhere, making it easier to fit into a busy day while still receiving quality, one-on-one instruction.
Reduced commute time: During peak periods of the school term, tutor availability can be limited. Online classes make it easier to extend sessions if needed and eliminate time lost in travel—helping students access consistent support without scheduling conflicts.
Grades 1–6 – Online Session Guidelines
All lessons are conducted via Zoom. My iPad screen is shared live, allowing students to see step-by-step working as I write—just like a whiteboard but interactive and accessible from home.
Before the first lesson, I’ll speak with a parent to understand which areas or topics the student needs help with.
Based on this, I’ll prepare tailored questions and worksheets. During the session, we’ll work through problems together, and the student will also have the opportunity to try some themselves, followed by feedback and corrections.
At the end of each session, I’ll check in with the student to see how they found the lesson, answer any remaining questions, and assign a few homework questions to complete before our next class.
Grades 7–9 – Online Session Guidelines
Sessions follow a similar structure to the younger years, but with added independence and student involvement.
Students are encouraged to email me any questions (from homework, class, or textbooks) before or within the first 5 minutes of the lesson. This allows me to prepare and share the questions on-screen during the Zoom call, walking through the working live and keeping the lesson engaging and relevant.
As students progress into higher grades, I also offer support outside of scheduled tutoring hours. They’re welcome to email me questions during the week, and I’ll respond with written solutions as soon as possible.
Grades 10–12 – Online Session Guidelines
Additional Support: Senior students have access to my email outside of tutoring hours for extra help.
Sessions for grades 10–12 are more tailored to meet the increased demands of senior-level assessment. Lessons typically focus on:
Assignments (if one is set during the term), where I help break down the task and provide guidance on how to structure responses and apply key concepts.
Exam preparation, where we go through topics directly from their class OneNote (commonly used by teachers to outline the term’s content) and their school’s prescribed textbook (aligned with the QCAA curriculum).
Session Length: Online lessons for senior students are typically between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the amount of content and support needed.
