About Marcus
I’m a full-time business faculty member and Program Head at a Canadian post-secondary institution, where I teach finance and business courses and lead programming in finance. Before moving into education, I built my career in the industry itself, commercial banking, bond underwriting, and agricultural risk management, so my teaching is grounded in how finance actually works, not just how textbooks describe it.
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and an Adult Teaching and Learning certificate, and I’m currently pursuing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. I also serve as a technical reviewer for a major Canadian textbook publisher, checking the accuracy of the same finance materials many students learn from.
Teaching is my profession, not a side interest. Helping people finally “get it” is genuinely the best part of my job.

My lessons are built around you. For students, that means working from your actual course, your syllabus, assignments, and practice problems, not generic material. I find exactly where things stopped making sense, then rebuild from there in plain language, connecting each concept to how it’s used in the real world of banking, insurance, and finance. I tutor finance, financial math (time value of money, annuities, loans, etc.), personal finance, and general business courses at the college and university level.
I also work with adults on their own financial journey. Budgeting, debt, saving, and making sense of your money with zero judgment and zero jargon.
Either way, sessions are structured but relaxed: we work through problems together, and you leave with a clear method you can use on your own. My goal is your confidence and independence, not your dependence on me.
