About Murat
I am a professional illustrator and Senior 3D Character Animator based in Crystal Palace. I have spent the last 15 years bringing complex characters and creatures to life, with the past six years deeply embedded in London's high-end entertainment industry. My formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Animation alongside an academic exchange in Communication Design, providing a robust foundation for my career in the visual arts.
Throughout my time working on top-tier cinematics and feature projects, I have maintained a disciplined, daily practice in traditional life drawing and anatomical sketching. Because my professional animation work demands absolute anatomical realism, an intricate understanding of biomechanics, and perfect weight distribution, my drawing methodology is highly structural.
My personal artwork, however, heavily focuses on storytelling, emotional resonance, and a deep observation of life. I am fascinated by historical research and art history, frequently drawing inspiration from my favourite artist, Picasso, to inform my approach to form, expression, and bold composition.
I bring this exact blend of rigorous technical discipline and a passion for narrative to my teaching. A strong foundation in traditional art is what separates a competent sketcher from a truly exceptional draughtsman. Whether you are an absolute beginner wanting to grasp the fundamentals or an established artist needing to strengthen your observational skills, these sessions are rigorously tailored to your progression.
My teaching method marries classical Fine Arts training with the stringent demands of the professional visual arts industry. We will not just be making pretty pictures; we will be building a robust mechanical and anatomical understanding of your subjects.
We will cover:
Fundamentals of Draughtsmanship: Mastering line weight, perspective, shading, and form.
Anatomy and Life Drawing: Deep-diving into the human figure, bone structure, and muscle mechanics to create highly believable characters.
Visual Storytelling: Structuring compositions that effectively convey narrative, emotion, and your perception of life.
Iterative Critique: You will receive direct, constructive feedback on your sketches. We will identify structural weaknesses and correct them strictly to elevate your overall standard.
