About Mary Jo
I absolutely love science, but I know how overwhelming it can feel when you are staring at a complex molecular pathway. My goal is to completely strip away that intimidation factor for my students.
Throughout my academic journey, I have had tons of practice looking at the "big pictures" in science and breaking them down into manageable pieces. I connect what we learn to the day-to-day world around us, making abstract concepts feel real and easy to understand. I want to share this perspective with you, build your confidence, and show you that with the right approach, anyone can master science!

My Approach:
I break down complex scientific concepts into logical, easy-to-digest steps using active recall, visual diagrams, and real-world analogies. A major focus is exam technique. We will dissect real past papers so you know exactly how to hit the top marks on the mark scheme.
Lesson Structure & Length
Duration: Standard sessions are 60 minutes (90-minute sessions are available for advanced topics).
Format: Every lesson includes a quick retrieval quiz, core concept building, and targeted exam practice.
Qualifications & Experience
First Class BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Sheffield.
Deep academic background in molecular biology, genetics, and organic chemistry.
Strong experience in translating complex scientific literature into simple, clear concepts.
