About Monera

I am a Biomedical Science graduate from St George’s, University of London, where I am on track for a First-Class Honours degree. My passion has always been for the life sciences—understanding how things work, from cellular processes to entire biological systems. I find true satisfaction in breaking down complex scientific concepts into clear, understandable ideas. I want to share this clarity and enthusiasm with students, helping them build confidence and achieve their potential in GCSE Science, turning a challenging subject into an engaging and manageable one.

Teaching Experience:

Private Tutoring (2020–2021 & Present): I have tutored GCSE students, specialising in Biology and Chemistry. My focus is on building a strong foundational understanding, exam technique, and application of knowledge. I adapt my teaching to each student's learning style, ensuring they feel supported and capable.

Peer Support & Mentoring: At university, I regularly collaborate with peers, explaining intricate physiological and anatomical concepts. This has honed my ability to communicate complex information effectively to different audiences, a skill I directly apply to tutoring.

Approach: I believe science is best learned through connection, not just memorisation. My approach centres on linking new topics to real-world examples and a student's existing knowledge. I prioritise deep understanding, followed by targeted practice with past paper questions to build exam confidence and pinpoint areas for review.

Engaging Teaching: My goal is to make lessons interactive and thought-provoking. I use questioning and discussion to encourage critical thinking and ensure the student is an active participant in their learning journey.

My lessons are structured yet flexible, tailored to the student's syllabus and personal goals:

Foundation & Diagnostics: I begin by understanding the student's exam board, current level, and specific challenges to create a focused learning plan.

Interactive Learning: Using my iPad and laptop, I deliver engaging lessons. I utilise a variety of resources including the student's textbook, trusted online platforms like PhysicsandMathsTutor.com, and custom presentations to suit different learning preferences.

Consolidation & Practice: Mastery comes from application. I provide curated practice questions and past papers, offering detailed feedback to strengthen understanding and perfect exam technique. I may also use digital tools to annotate and share notes in real-time.

Supportive Dialogue: I foster an open environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. Regular review sessions ensure we consolidate knowledge and address any difficulties promptly.
