About Samantha
I’m a first-class graduate from the School of Science in the Geography Department, where I studied Global Development and Sustainability. I’m really interested in international development, global relations, philosophy, and anything linked to food security and how we can build more sustainable systems.
During my degree I spent a lot of time abroad doing fieldwork and around a quarter of my final year was outside the UK. My dissertation focused on food waste reduction in Milan, and I also spent some time living there, which was a brilliant experience and really shaped how I think about global food systems.
I’m about to start a PhD looking at food insecurity in the UK, which is a topic I care a lot about and want to work on in a real, practical way.
Outside of academics, I love travelling and food. I enjoy cooking, trying new places to eat, and generally exploring new cultures through what they eat and how they live. I also spend a lot of time travelling with friends, recently we’ve been travelling across Europe together to watch football, tennis, rugby, and Formula 1, just combining travel with things we all love.

As a recent graduate, I developed a clear understanding of the strategies and approaches that significantly improved my academic performance. I was able to refine my study methods over time, moving from average performance to achieving the highest grades in my class, and I now focus on helping students apply these same principles in a practical and structured way.
All students learn differently, so lessons are fully tailored to individual needs, strengths, and goals. Sessions are adapted to ensure concepts are understood in the most effective way for each student, with a focus on improving clarity, exam technique, and independent study skills.
Lessons are typically 1 hour long. This is based on established learning research and my own experience, which shows that concentration and retention tend to decline in longer continuous study sessions. I therefore prefer focused one-hour sessions, which can be booked multiple times per week (or even in a day where appropriate), with breaks in between to maximise learning efficiency and value for both students and parents.
I hold a first-class degree and am preparing to begin doctoral study. I am available to tutor GCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate students, particularly those who want structured, personalised support to improve academic performance and confidence.
