About Joseph
I started playing the piano at age 11 and I've been on it for quite a long time before I switched to pipe organ. My love for these keyboard instruments has pushed me to not only want to get better but to also share my method of learning to others. I come from an environment where we don't have the resources to hire professional teachers and I consider it a huge privilege to put my skills to good use by helping others develop through piano playing.

My approach to learning the piano is based on the following: * Fun, concise information, productivity, and patience. Playing the piano can be fun and one needs to enjoy what they're doing in order to get better at it and during the course of my class, there's always going to be a break between working and laughing to ease off the stress that may come with learning a piece. I prioritise concise information because that's the way a student can get better. By understanding why a note is played in a particular way, students can trust themselves to engage more in different pieces thereby developing their skills. Productivity comes as a result of engaging with what you love doing so the more a student practises, the more productive their playing becomes. Patience is the ultimate character that I encourage my students to have. Learning how to play the piano can be frustrating (yes, I've cried several times over the years!) but with patience and trust in yourself, you can/will do it!
