About Úna
I believe that every student can thrive with the right support, encouragement, and teaching approach. As a private tutor, my goal is not only to help students achieve excellent results, but also to build their confidence and help them become more independent learners.
My ambition to become a secondary English teacher grew from my own experience of inspiring teachers who had a lasting impact on my life. Their ability to explain complex ideas clearly, encourage thoughtful discussion, and genuinely invest in their students has shaped the way I approach tutoring. I aim to create lessons where students feel comfortable asking questions, challenging themselves, and developing a deeper understanding of English.
I take the time to understand each student's strengths, areas for development, and learning style, adapting every lesson to help them make steady progress. Whether we're analysing literature, improving essay writing, or preparing for GCSE or A Level examinations, I strive to make lessons engaging, structured, and supportive.
I bring both strong academic credentials and a genuine enthusiasm for education. I hold a First-Class degree from the University of Oxford and a Master's degree from the University of Cambridge, and I have been admitted to a Secondary English Initial Teacher Training programme. I am committed to providing professional, high-quality tuition that helps students achieve their academic goals while developing confidence in their own abilities.

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they're aiming to build confidence, strengthen core English skills, or achieve top grades in exams. I believe the most effective learning happens when students feel supported and challenged in equal measure, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each learner's pace, interests, and goals. Lessons combine clear explanations of key concepts with guided practice, constructive feedback, and regular opportunities to apply knowledge through discussion and exam-style questions.
Lessons are typically one hour long, providing enough time to introduce new material, practise skills, and review progress without becoming overwhelming.
I hold a First-Class degree from the University of Oxford and a Master's degree from the University of Cambridge. I have also been admitted to a Secondary English Initial Teacher Training programme, giving me both a strong academic foundation and a growing understanding of evidence-based classroom practice.
