About James

Hi! I'm James, a 24 year old, living in London. I graduated with a First Class honours Masters degree in Engineering from Oxford University in June 2020. I have tutored for 5 years, accumulating over 500 hours of experience. I provide tuition for: Maths and Science at GCSE and A-Level (Year 9 - Year 13), UCAS personal statements, Oxbridge entrance exams (Oxford MAT, PAT and Cambridge ENGAA).

About the lesson

My aim is to build confidence and instil the academic discipline necessary for students to improve their approach to problem solving. I teach Maths and Science at GCSE and A Level to ambitious students who want to improve their grades. Therefore, my teaching is primarily centred around improving exam technique and understanding exam structure. I provide lessons on specific topics to tailor to the individual needs of my students.

James has tutored my son A level maths over the summer. He has come to tutor sessions well prepared, with content tailored to meet my son’s needs.

He can identify areas for improvement for which he provides appropriate tasks, along with good explanations. My son’s confidence and mathematical ability have been improved as a result of these sessions.

James is both amicable and polite, he has been a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend James as a maths tutor.

James has recently helped my son with GCSE maths. My son is in year 10 and due to COVID-19, has missed out on some of the key teaching this year. James has managed to fill the gaps and further extend my sons knowledge as well as improving his overall confidence. I would highly recommend James to anyone in a similar situation.

James tutors my daughter with A Level Maths, and I would thoroughly recommend him. Since having James for a regular weekly session, my daughter’s grades have improved dramatically, along with her confidence. His calm and patient manner provides a great environment for learning, and his additional email support is amazing. James is extremely organised and prepares interesting and varied sessions. Highly recommended!
