As a competitive player, I secured 1st Place at the VTU Interstate Chess Championship (2024). Competing at a high level has strengthened my understanding of practical chess, strategic planning, and decision-making under pressure. I bring these insights into every lesson, breaking down complex ideas into simple, repeatable patterns that young learners can confidently apply in their own games.

Hi, I'm Yashwanth, a passionate chess trainer with hands-on experience coaching 30+ students aged 6–14 across multiple apartment communities in Bengaluru. I specialize in helping beginner and intermediate players build a strong foundation in chess through structured, engaging, and easy-to-understand lessons that make learning both enjoyable and rewarding.
My coaching follows a step-by-step curriculum that covers every stage of a player's development. Students learn opening principles, tactical themes such as pins, forks, skewers, discovered attacks, double attacks, and checkmate patterns, along with positional play, calculation techniques, strategic planning, endgame fundamentals, and game analysis. I also teach chess notation, tournament etiquette, clock management, and practical decision-making to prepare students for competitive play. I also leverage online platforms like Chess.com and Lichess for interactive lessons.
Whether your child is just learning how the pieces move, looking to strengthen tactical calculation, preparing for school or local tournaments, or simply wanting to develop sharper thinking skills through chess, I'll provide a supportive and motivating environment where they can enjoy learning while building lasting confidence at the board.
I'm available for flexible online sessions and would be delighted to begin with a trial class to understand your child's current level, learning style, and goals. I look forward to helping every student discover the joy of chess while building strong fundamentals that will benefit them for years to come.
