About Alessandra
My name is Alessandra Guidi and I graduated in Foreign Languages and Tourism at the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan (Italy).
I have lived and worked in the United Kingdom in the last 5 years and I work as a languages teacher. I'm Italian native speaker but I'm also fluent in English and French, as I've studied them at university and I've also passed a French Baccalaureat. I also speak Spanish (I have a B2 level).
In November 2018 I completed the CELTA course at Bell Educational Services in Cambridge, which allowed me to start acquiring more experience about preparing lessons and managing a class of learners. From February 2019 I started to work as an EFL teacher at Studio Cambridge - an English language school - where I had the chance to teach to different levels (elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced). I have taught general English and Functional English and I have always made students do different kind of activities (e.g. reading, listening, speaking, grammar, functional language, vocabulary, pronunciation, games) to help them reinforce their knowledge and practise of English language.
I've also had other work experiences at EC English, where I taught project-based lessons to young learners (teenager students) and at Regent Cambridge, where I mostly taught General English (also FCE, IELTS and CAE) and sometimes also Business English and Legal English to adult learners.
During the lessons, I have always involved students as much as possible, so they could better understand concepts and the target language. I also have to mention the satisfaction I had when I saw students assimilating what I explained to them, and above all students' satisfaction when they were practising the language and the rules. During my experience at Regent Cambridge my main focus has been preparing lessons that could meet students' needs, in order to help them to reach their aims in learning and improving their English.
Apart from teaching English, I have also taught Italian as a foreign language to children (5-14 years old) and adults.
I have always been interested in foreign language and cultures, that's why I decided to study English and French at university. My experiences of learning foreign languages have always been positive, and I have very good memories of them. This is one of the main reasons why I would like to be a Modern Foreign Languages teacher myself and dedicate my life to pass down the same enthusiasm to other people about learning a foreign language and discovering new countries and cultures. I also feel I can have good qualities for working as a teacher and helping pupils to develop their linguistic knowledge.
