About Christian
I received a B.A. in Political Science from Texas State University, and minored in history. My undergraduate interests centered around the American Revolutionary Period. Specifically, major political figures of the era, the political history of American Constitutional Development, the structural design of American government, and the evolution of the American political landscape over time. I also attended Texas State for graduate school, earning a Master's Degree in Political Theory (Political Philosophy). My research was focused on the development of Western Political Thought from the Greco-Roman period to the late-Enlightenment. Specifically; the influence of religion on Western political history, individualism, and the sociological and political effects of democratic political-socialization. I believe politics should be taught from a multi-lens perspective, highlighting the contributions of minority groups, marginalized communities, and the political tensions and frictions that have helped our nation mature through the centuries.

I take an "active citizen" approach to education. We cannot ignore politics, it affects our everyday life! I strive to show students how topics in civics and public policy affect them, and those around them. The most engaged (see, successful) students are those that see how a subject is applicable to their day-to-day lives. My pedagogy is designed to empower students, make politics relatable, and teach them *how* to think critically about political topics and ideas and come to their own informed conclusions; not "what" to think. The elegant-though sometimes messy- beauty behind democratic systems comes from our diversity, and dedication to an open "marketplace of ideas" that enrich our national discourse. *Every* voice and opinion matters, even yours!

Christian is a profoundly intelligent and adept educator. His academic knowledge of political theory and its application to civics and public policy is remarkable. He really understands how to connect with students of any level and explain complex concepts in very understandable and digestible ways. When he teaches, you can really see not only how passionate he is about the the topics, but also how passionate he is about teaching you about them. I highly recommend Christian as an educator and a humanitarian. He also has an extensive professional network within civic organizations that he can recommend for additional resources.

I strongly believe that education is both personally empowering, and the key to the advancement of civilization. If you find my fees to be out of your reach, do not be afraid to reach out. An educator's sense of accomplishment doesn't stem from a paycheck, but from the knowledge we are doing our very small part to enrich the lives of the next generation.
