About Rachel
Hi! My name is Rachel, and I’m a former elementary school teacher with 5+ years of classroom experience teaching all core subjects in 4th grade. I graduated from Arizona State University and hold a valid fingerprint clearance card and teaching credentials.
Although I love teaching all subjects, math has always been a personal passion of mine, and I’m especially skilled at helping students truly understand how and why we solve problems, not just memorize steps. I was consistently praised for my ability to teach metacognition and break difficult concepts down into manageable, student-friendly thinking processes. I also have extensive experience teaching reading comprehension, writing, and foundational academic skills.
My teaching style combines strong structure and high expectations with patience, encouragement, and genuine connection. I believe students learn best when they feel respected, supported, and invested in their own growth. I’m calm, engaging, and highly adaptable, and I have experience working with students of many learning styles and needs, including ADHD, behavioral challenges, and special education support.
I also believe learning should feel meaningful and memorable. Whether that meant using multiplication songs, real-life examples, movement, or creative strategies in my classroom, I always aimed to make learning approachable and engaging rather than stressful.
As a younger teacher, I connect easily with students while still maintaining professionalism, structure, and accountability. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them build confidence in themselves as learners.

My lessons are supportive, structured, and personalized to each student’s learning style and academic needs. As a former classroom teacher, I’m very familiar with current educational standards, Common Core strategies, and modern teaching methods used in today’s schools. I have hands-on experience teaching with programs such as Eureka Math, i-Ready, and HMH Into Reading, so I understand the approaches and terminology students are currently seeing in their classrooms.
I focus on helping students build true understanding and confidence rather than simply memorizing answers. During lessons, I break concepts down step-by-step, model thinking processes clearly, and adjust my teaching based on how each student learns best. Whether a student needs extra support, enrichment, homework help, test preparation, or simply someone patient to guide them through challenging material, I create a calm and encouraging environment where they can feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I also believe learning should be engaging and approachable. I often use real-life connections, creative memory strategies, and interactive techniques to help students stay motivated and retain what they learn. My goal is for students to leave lessons not only understanding the material better, but also feeling more confident in their own abilities.
