About Katy
I am an avid lifelong learner who excelled and tutored while still in school, and am wanting to revive that with struggling elementary and middle school students who are having difficulty understanding the material and doing their assignments. A little more about me, I'm the parent to two 8 year old boys and am married to a wonderful man. I love Harry Potter and all my pets are named after characters. My favorite holiday is Christmas, and my favorite hobby is crocheting (to which I am trying to learn stuffed animals now.)

I like to meet my students where they're at and ask them how they learn best. If they're not sure I have a short quiz they can take that tells me how they learn best so I can adjust my teaching style. A typical lesson plan will involve a bit of review of last session and any homework, then moving into the content of the day. I let my students ask questions as we move along rather than holding them until the end. I can work with up to grade 9.

I met Katy in high school and when my daughter started to fall behind in English I immediately asked Katy if she could help. Katy was one of the managers I worked with at a popular restaurant chain for many years, and over those years she constantly showed me innovative and creative ways to handle situations not only at work, but in my day to day life!
