About Andrew
I gained entry to Chetham’s School of Music in 1997 and studied the piano with Nigel Pitceathly and Murray McLachlan. In 2002, at the age of 16, I was a BBC Young Musician semi-finalist and in the same year performed Rachmaninov’s 2nd piano concerto. As a composer, I enjoyed masterclasses with Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and James Macmillan, and completed my first symphony aged 19. Between 2017 and 2022, I lectured on two musicology modules at Salford University. I currently live in Prestwich, Manchester, and have been teaching piano, music theory, and composition for 14 years.

My lessons vary considerably in length and content, and are tailored to students' needs - I teach 30/45/60/90-minute sessions. Students are encouraged to develop a regular practising habit, featuring technical exercises, scales, studies, and diverse repertoire to promote an all-encompassing pianistic approach.
