About Theo
I am a junior in high school who is half French. My father was born in Montpellier, France, and lived in Paris as well. He graduated high school and spent two years at university there until he visited Atlanta, Georgia. He decided that he wanted to study there, so he decided to build from the ground up because his father did not want to fund his adventure. He worked as a dishwasher in restaurants for years, not speaking English, until he and some French friends decided to build their own French restaurant. Years went on until my dad met my mother in 1998. The restaurant had been his for a few years by then, and he and my mother got married, had both my brothers, and then me as the youngest, born in 2008. I grew up with him speaking French to me and my brothers, so I guess you could say I have 2008-now years of native French speaking experience. Every summer of my life, I've spent weeks upon weeks at my grandparents' house, enjoying time with them, my cousins, and my uncles. As a result of being in France so often, I've made a group of my own friends there who I stay in touch with and hang out with when I'm there. At school in the States, I've attended an international preschool, primary school, middle school, and high school, where I have been in a high-level language and literature class. About six months ago, a family friend who is French re-married an American man with an 8-year-old daughter, and they were looking for someone to tutor her in French. That’s where I came in and began to tutor her and see her grow linguistically. That’s when I got the idea to become a tutor for French online and have more pupils to teach. That’s my story.

1- Teaching Methods:
During the lessons, I always begin by understanding the level of the learner and their strengths and weaknesses. Once I know what they need to work on most, I start by placing them in scenarios specific to their weak points, knowing they may not do well. Disappointed in themselves, this will allow them to recognize the patterns of errors they have been making. Upon becoming aware, I will then begin to instruct them in the correct methods. They will then be placed into similar specific scenarios as before so that the improvement can be seen.
2-A typical lesson plan: Readings, quizzes, fill-in-the-blanks, reviews, speaking, grades, activities, constant speaking (at least the effort to!).
3- What sets me apart as a tutor: What sets me apart as a tutor is my experience with the culture. This means that not only do I have a perfect accent, but I also know the mannerisms and sayings that are hard to come by in relation to teaching French here in the States. Thus, providing a more authentic French experience.
4- Who the lessons are for (degree, level, class, specificities, etc.): The lessons are for low to mid-level French speakers, either complete beginners or people with basic or developing abilities.

Highly Recommended: A Review of Theo as an Exceptional French Tutor
If you’re looking for a French tutor who is not only knowledgeable but also engaging, patient, and incredibly dedicated, I wholeheartedly recommend Theo. My experience learning French with them has been transformative, and I’m certain others will feel the same.
From our very first lesson, it was clear that Theo has an exceptional command of the French language, not just from a grammatical standpoint but in their deep understanding of cultural nuances, expressions, and even idiomatic phrases that you might not find in textbooks. What sets them apart is their ability to adapt to individual learning styles and goals. Whether you’re a beginner just getting started or someone trying to refine fluency, Theo will tailor lessons to meet your specific needs.
One of the most remarkable aspects of working withTheo is their teaching approach. French grammar can be notoriously tricky, but they break it down in such a way that makes complex rules seem simple and easy to grasp. Rather than focusing solely on memorization,Theo emphasizes practical usage, ensuring that you can apply what you’ve learned in real-life situations, whether that’s in conversation or writing. They also offer invaluable corrections and tips in a manner that’s always encouraging and never discouraging.
Beyond the technical aspects of language learning, [Theo brings a cultural richness to every lesson. They share fascinating insights into French customs, traditions, and history, giving you a holistic understanding of the language within its cultural context. This made my lessons feel more immersive and engaging, and deepened my appreciation for not just the language, but the culture it represents.
Their patience is another quality I deeply appreciate. Learning a language is a journey filled with challenges, but Theo is always supportive and encouraging, creating a positive and comfortable learning environment. They allow room for mistakes but offer constructive feedback that promotes improvement without making you feel pressured or rushed.
Additionally, Theo is incredibly well-prepared for each session, providing helpful resources such as vocabulary lists, practice exercises, and even cultural articles or media in French to keep learning fresh and diverse. Their attention to detail and passion for teaching makes every lesson not only informative but truly enjoyable.
In conclusion, I couldn’t recommend Theo more highly. Their dedication to their students’ success, combined with their linguistic expertise and warm teaching style, makes them the ideal tutor for anyone looking to learn or improve their French. Working with them has been an absolute pleasure, and I’m grateful for the progress I’ve made under their guidance. If you're looking for the best French tutor, look no further than Theo! Not only is he an absolute pro at the language, but he’s also one of the kindest, most patient people you’ll ever meet. His way of teaching makes learning French so much fun, whether you’re just starting out or trying to perfect your skills. He breaks things down in a way that’s easy to understand, and he never makes you feel bad for asking questions. On top of being an incredible tutor, he’s such a positive and supportive person. His energy is contagious—he’s always encouraging and makes you feel like you can achieve anything. You’ll not only walk away speaking better French, but also feeling inspired and confident! Highly recommend! 100%!
