I have a genuine passion for languages and approach each lesson with enthusiasm and energy. I believe that the most important attribute any teacher can have is the ability to communicate their love for a subject so that students can engage with it and feel motivated to learn. I aim to have a good balance of traditional academic exercises and more "fun" and creative ways to learn in my lessons. I find that including materials like videos and games is a great way to keep a student's attention, whilst of course grounding these with strong lesson plans and traditional, more lecture-style teaching. With languages particularly, I think it is key to teach conversational skills as well as grammar and spelling. I speak French as much as possible during a session so that students can get used to hearing the language as well as reading it.
I am currently a student at the University of Manchester. Growing up in France, I was raised bilingual in French and English and am fully fluent in both languages. I studied the International Baccalaureate at a sixth form here in the UK and received full marks in five of my six subjects (including French), achieving an overall mark of 44 out of 45 points. After graduating, I was awarded the Whewell Prize for outstanding IB results from Trinity College Cambridge. While at this school I also tutored KS3 students in French language for two years.
