My teaching method is based on building self-confidence. Students know more than they think and can all learn french! My first challenge is to give them the chance to see their skills and from there, learning french will become way easier. I am not going to lie to you. French is a very difficult language to learn! But thanks to my experiences I feel able to find a way to adapt my lessons to each student and I promise an improvement! I also think learning a language is fun and I would love to share my culture with students by using references as great movies, series, readings, art frames, games etc... (depending on the student's interests and motivations), because I am convinced that this is the way to learn french. Well, if you are ready to learn, I am ready to teach you and your lessons will be adapted to you as you are unique! I accept everyone, from total begginer, to expert, there is no competition in my class, just a sparkle of joy and a lot of work to get the class ready for the students !
I started giving French lessons as an assistant at 15 years old in Australia. This experience convinced me to keep teaching. I studied french literature, english and art in highschool, and I have been studying british and american literature for 2 years at university in order to get a degree in FLE to become a french teacher in foreign countries. Last year I gave one to one classes to Japanese, English, Spanish and Belgian people of all ages. Each time I teach and see someone gain self-confidence and improve, I cannot help but feel joy. Today I am the main teacher of a language centre in the UK, I give one-to-one classes and group ones, based on a majorly conversational basis.
Violaine has not only studied English but lived in the UK for a year. She has also visited Australia for an extended period and is therefore use to the various English-language accents. This is key, as accents can dramatically change how the language can sound. This can make it difficult for people to understand. However, Vio is not only aware of this, but able to adapt and overcome this.
As a native English-speaking (with Australian accent) it is easy to converse with Vio, including the discussion of conplex ideas. She is able to communicate her own ideas clearly and precisely. She is also extremely well-read in both French and English literature and has a broad English vocabulary. I think she will make a wonderful tutor.
Violaine is a trustworthy teacher, being a French native who loves Scottish culture. She is calm and patient and has plenty of knowledge to share. Having a native person teach you French is very useful! It’s not the same as working with a native British speaker who has learned French at the University. We get to learn more than the typical knowledge thought in Academia if we ask for it, because she will be able to provide both.
