As a versatile and adaptable musician, I have a substantial amount of musical knowledge to impart, and can help students from all levels and ages become well-rounded musicians comfortable playing a wide-range of styles. I encourage creativity in my lessons and explore theory through practical application and composition, and can help students develop technical, theoretical and notational skills in a relaxed but focused manner.
I am an experienced performer, composer, producer and musicologist, and have also worked in musical educational environments. I have worked with children at week-long performing arts workshops to teach and perform musical pieces, and I gave guitar tuition to a student in his twenties for a year and a half whilst at university.

________________________________________________
I am a guitarist capable of playing and teaching a wide of popular musical styles, including jazz, rock and funk. I was general manager of and performed in the Sheffield University Big Band, which is well-acclaimed and regularly plays at such events as Sheffield Jazz, and I have played guitar regularly in small jazz ensembles around Sheffield city. I have performed at such festivals as Tramlines and Brainchild as well as at numerous venues in Sheffield, and have played in various ensembles at weddings and balls. I am also proficient in using current music software, having had my music productions broadcast on BBC Radio Introducing. I am comfortable teaching students of all ages; I have worked with children at week-long performing arts workshops to teach and perform musical pieces, and I gave guitar tuition to a student in his twenties for a year and a half whilst at university.
As a music graduate I have learnt to be self-driven and motivated, with strong organisational skills and a high standard of working. My degree made me confident in a number of musical areas, including performance, composition, music technology, orchestration and musicology, and I am also a competent player of several instruments. This makes me a versatile and adaptable musician who can impart a substantial amount of musical knowledge, and can help students become well-rounded musical learners. I have an advanced understanding of musical harmony, lots of experience performing a variety of musical styles, and am a patient and understanding teacher, and thus can help students develop technical, theoretical and notational skills in a relaxed but focused manner.
