About Katrina
I started tutoring after completing an MRes in Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton, and discovered I have a great love for education as well as science. My training and research focused mainly on biomedical sciences and molecular biology. I love helping students see the connections between subjects and the world around them.
I have three years' experience of tutoring Biology to A-level, as well as Chemistry, Physics and Maths to GCSE level, and have been fortunate enough to help several students improve their grades, gain confidence, and re-engage with their education. I have tutored people of all ages and backgrounds, from 11 year old to adults getting back into education.
My teaching style is student centred, friendly and holistic; I recognise and appreciate differences between students and tailor lessons and homework to their individual learning style. As well as instilling the knowledge and critical thinking skills to succeed in exams, I am to encourage independent problem solving and lifelong learning.
I tutor online and from home, and I can
also travel to students in Southampton.

My teaching style is student centred, friendly and holistic; I recognise and appreciate differences between the learning styles of individual students and tailor lessons and homework accordingly. I go through past papers and practise questions so students can learn how to express answers in accordance with the exam board requirements, and because it's a great way to both learn and consolidate knowledge.
