About Nat
I am a fully qualified professional English and languages tutor based in Exeter, with over 15 years of experience in education.
I completed my PGCE in languages at the University of Exeter, holding full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). I also hold a Cambridge CELTA qualification from International House London and a 2:1 Joint Honours degree in Spanish and Psychology. I lived in Barcelona for three years and taught EFL there.
My true passion for teaching stems from my firsthand experience hosting international students from all over the world; I absolutely love learning about different cultures while helping my guests master the English language through warm, engaging daily conversations.
Throughout my rewarding career, I have taught across various educational settings and coordinated IB English Language B. My psychology background means I naturally approach every student with empathy, patience, and a strong focus on individual well-being.
Having lived abroad and hosted so many lovely international students locally, I deeply understand how vulnerable it can feel to learn a second language. I specialise in working with teenagers and adults, offering both casual conversational practice and structured language support.
I am patient, encouraging, and dedicated to creating a welcoming space where you can comfortably make mistakes and learn entirely at your own pace.

Whether you are an adult aiming for real-world fluency, an international student perfecting your British accent, or a teenager navigating academic pressures, my lessons are tailored around your unique learning profile. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
I see tutoring not simply as "assisting" learning, but as co-creating success stories—helping you find confidence, belonging, and your own purpose in education. For non-native speakers, our sessions will mirror the warm, natural immersion environment I provide as a local host for international students in Exeter. As a trained languages teacher, I know exactly how languages are successfully acquired.
Having also taught at a language academy in Barcelona, I specialise in fine-tuning accent mechanics, mastering British English pronunciation, and correcting errors gently and constructively in real time. As an avid book lover, I also love incorporating reading into our sessions to build your vocabulary, comprehension, and a genuine love for the language.
For teenagers and academic clients, I bring the quiet but vital skills developed across my career in education. I excel at working one-to-one and in small groups with students who need that extra connection. By listening carefully and noticing small shifts in mood or engagement, I gently steer my students towards complete independence. I look at the whole student—drawing on my Psychology degree to sensitively support learners with SEND profiles, ASC, or those facing exam anxiety. I care deeply about helping you discover what you can do, rather than focusing on what you can't. I happily offer highly interactive online sessions or flexible, in-person lessons right here, in a public place, in Exeter.

Hi! I met Nat last year as she was my host mum for two weeks, two beautiful weeks. She's an amazing person to talk to, always ready to teach you something new with patience.
