About Peter
I'm a qualified teacher with 10 years of classroom experience, having taught Mathematics and Physical Education across both the Australian and IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) curricula. Teaching has never just been a job for me — there's nothing quite like watching a student who once dreaded maths start to genuinely enjoy it, or seeing the moment a tricky concept finally clicks. That's what keeps me invested.
My background in MYP and PE has shaped the way I approach every lesson: engagement comes first. When students are curious and enjoying themselves, the learning follows naturally. I bring that same energy to tutoring — creating a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building real confidence in the subject.

My approach to maths tutoring is simple: I want every student to actually understand what they're doing, not just memorise a method. With several years of experience across both in-person and online settings — including a dedicated full-time school tutoring role at a school in Australia — I've worked with students from upper primary level all the way through to advanced secondary maths (equivalent to Year 12 in Victoria). I specialise in making difficult concepts feel approachable, breaking things down to their foundations and asking questions that help students discover the answer themselves, rather than just handing it to them. The focus is always on the 'why' behind the maths, because when something actually makes sense, it sticks.
Lessons are typically one hour, though I'm flexible depending on what works for you. I'm comfortable working across the Australian and IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) curricula, and I'm equally happy helping a student build confidence from scratch or pushing a capable learner to think more deeply.
