About Mia

My name is Mia and I am a second-year student studying Psychology at Durham University.

I hold distinctions in the ARSM piano diploma qualification, and grade 8 piano. I also did A Level Music, and have 2 years of previous teaching experience.

I have been playing the piano since age 4, and started lessons with my mum. She has had over 25 years of teaching experience and she is highly qualified and experienced, meaning that I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have also been exposed to very high-level teaching and guidance from her which I apply to my own students.

I attended the Junior Royal Academy of Music in London from the age of 13-18, where I received world-class teaching for my Piano lessons, alongside other musical classes.

I have won prizes in a variety of competitions, including in the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe Intercollegiate Piano Competition, where I was selected to represent the academy. I have also performed with an orchestra as a soloist.

About the lesson

I understand the importance of high-quality teaching, whilst also making lessons fun and enjoyable for the student, and strongly emphasise this in my teaching. My lessons happen in person in the comfort of your own home, and I travel to you for this. I have a small travel fee depending on how far I need to travel. Lessons typically last between 30-60 minutes, depending on what suits the needs of the student best. My background in psychology allows me to easily assess and adapt my approach to ensure the student achieves their full potential.
