About Jen
I have taught English to children aged 6 - 16 in England, Spain, Japan and India for 10 years in total. For three years, I taught beginners English to teenagers and adults in England and Spain, including ESOL to South Asians and refugees. I also have experience teaching IELTS and pre-sessional English classes to Asian university students in the UK, focusing on presentation skills, seminar skills and essay writing. As I've learnt French grammar at school, Japanese as an adult, and am currently studying Spanish, I know that language learning can be challenging and often frustrating unless classes are SUPER FUN! I love teaching people to read, write and express themselves in English!

I'm Jen, a CELTA qualified teacher for 15 years on two continents, before completing a PGCE to be a primary school teacher in 2009, teaching in East London until recently. I like to make my classes STUDENT-LED, focusing on the students' interests and passions. Sometimes, younger students need more support and guidance until they feel completely free to be independent writers and readers. It's also really important that all my students, whether young or older, feel COMFORTABLE to express their feelings in class. I believe in letting my students lead their lessons, so that they're student-centred, and therefore fulfilling. You learn English without realising! Classes are online for 45-min via SKYPE.

Jen is an amazing English teacher who uniquely stands out. We have two kids (11 and 13 years old) who Jen has taken in as students the last four years. Quickly the kids started looking very much forward to the classes with Jen, due to her ability to tailor the classes to their interest and her high energy level and enthusiasm. We saw rapid progress in both reading comprehension, English pronunciation and writing skills. We plan next year to transfer the kids to an international school where the teaching language is English, and thanks to Jen’s excellent teaching, the kids are confident that this will work out very fine.
