I provide English Literature and Geography tutoring from primary school level up to A-Level. My lesson structure would begin with getting students to enjoy and engage with the subject, whilst gaining understanding on which areas in particular need work. Because everyone finds different aspects of subjects tricky, I'd tailor lessons to what the individual needs to work on, before looking at more comprehensive lessons on exam technique and more (if exams are what they're working towards).
I am a Geography BSc student at the University of Exeter and I graduated from a grammar school with As at A-Level in the subjects I am offering to tutor, including full marks in certain papers. I have experience working with children both one-on-one and as a group but I'm new to tutoring.
For lessons where travel is over 30 minutes, there is an additional £2 travel cost per lesson.

PERSONAL STATEMENT: I am a friendly and approachable student with extensive experience working with and mentoring younger students. I have a detailed understanding, based on experience, of how to encourage students to engage with subjects they don’t enjoy and work towards not just enjoy the work but actively want to achieve higher grades in exams.
EDUCATION: I am currently studying for an undergraduate degree in BSc Geography at the University of Exeter, having graduated from Burnham Grammar School, where I achieved two As and a B at A-level, in Geography, English Literature and Economics.
I also have 10 A*-C GCSEs, including an A*-A in Maths, English literature and English language.
EMPLOYMENT: I volunteered for two summers at the Windsor Library, giving me valuable experience in dealing with customers, including children. My main role was to talk with children visiting the library, discuss what books they had recently read, and look at what new stories might engage them to encourage further reading.
I have completed work experience at Petsathome, where I undertook a variety of tasks, not just those typical of a retail role, but also taking care of the animals, demonstrating my reliability and resilience concerning more complex tasks.
Additionally, I was employed for a year as a papergirl and more recently, as a babysitter, allowing me to improve my self-management skills and showing responsibility as well as my enthusiasm to work. Working as a babysitter for an extensive period of time allowed me to develop trust with the children I babysat, and in particular, learn how to get younger children to complete tasks such as reading for themselves whilst making them seem fun, and not like chores.
Whilst at school I also undertook a range of mentee roles, such as deputy head house prefect and year 11 tutor for year 7s.
QUALIFICATIONS/INTERESTS: I have had a full driver’s license for over a year, a pass in the AQA Functional Skills ICT qualification and a merit at both Grade 5 and 6 in Ballet from the RAD
