About Leah
I have just graduated from De Montfort University with a 1st Class Degree in Biomedical Science. I am now studying for my PhD at DMU in Neuroscience. During my time at university my course was heavily Biology based, with some chemistry/biochemistry involved. I also myself completed both Biology at GCSE and A-level so know what is expected. Throughout university I was part of a tutoring group to help the year below me with certain modules in the course.

I would ask the student to pick areas where they are struggling as main focus points and find new ways to explain the information so that it makes sense and to help to remember it. I think diagrams are especially useful within Biology, especially to help to explain the biological processes and anatomy of both human and plant biology. I can try and use my previous notes, ways to remember processes and diagrams to help the student to gain confidence. I think it is important to understand how the student best understands and adapt the teaching to best suit this style. I think a good approach is to explain it to them and then get them to explain it back and answer exam style questions to see if they have understood.
