About Anna
I have been passionate about education, English literature, and writing for my entire life.
I currently write professionally as a Learning and Development professional specializing in communication at a local non-profit organization. This work has honed my skills in writing, editing, and proofreading with strong attention to detail—it has also given me experience creating a variety of learning plans. From 1st-5th grade students to high school, college-aged, and adult volunteers, I create curriculum in a variety of subjects, taking into account a variety of learning styles to allow each participant in our programming to reach desired outcomes.
I also have extensive experience with academic writing. I graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts in English, where I was awarded the Don Leigh Cravens Award for Outstanding Seniors for my academic performance. I took courses in a variety of topics, including the structure of modern English, advanced expository writing, conducting literary analysis, writing about literature, and understanding narrative theories. During high school, I completed a two-year IB English program. My academic writing spans a variety of topics, from analysis of classic authors and novels, like Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, to emerging fields of study, like Sound Studies. I am fully prepared to teach students to structure essays on a variety of topics, create appropriate citations, and avoid plagiarism.

I believe every student has the potential not only to succeed, but to excel when their learning needs are met. Whether they are building reading confidence and working on foundational essay-writing skills, or analyzing complex literature and preparing for exams, my focus is on creating a supportive environment with individualized lessons that will bring out each student’s strengths.
In the first session, I will focus on assessing the student’s current level, learning style, and academic goals (both short and long-term). This will allow me to create a personalized learning plan for each student utilizing the skills I have developed in over two years writing curriculum professionally for both elementary-aged students and adult learners.
Each session after this will depend on the student's needs: I will work with students to improve key skills using interactive lessons, with the flexibility to adjust depending on current academic needs. Most importantly, I will help students build their academic confidence in a supportive and safe environment.
